Eagle River of Eagle River

The Keweenaw Ridge presents a formidable obstacle for Eagle River. For a while the river bumps up against it, flowing from swamp to swamp, trying to find a way through to Lake Superior. When it finds a break near the town of Eagle River it rushes for it, tumbling down volcanic and conglomerate rock in a mad run though the ridge.
