Menominee, a Long, Calm River

The Menominee River stretches a long distances to the north and west from its mouth in Lake Michigamme. The main northern tributary, the Michigamme River, reaches up through the Peshekee highlands, mingling headwaters with the Huron, Yellow Dog, and Dead Rivers. On its way south the Michigamme and Menominee is held up by a number of dams, especially near its end.
